The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 675
continues.
SUMMARY…The severe threat continues across Severe Thunderstorm
Watch 675. A few damaging gusts and and an instance of large hail
may accompany the stronger storms this evening. The severe threat
should gradually wane through the evening with nocturnal cooling and
storms overturning the airmass.
DISCUSSION…Multiple multicellular complexes are overspreading the
Hudson Valley/New England area. Earlier rounds of storms have
dampened the low-level airmass to some degree, reducing surface
temperatures into the mid 70s F in several locales. Though the
severe threat may have peaked in intensity across New England, cold
pool mergers with the larger multicellular complexes may compensate
to support at least a few more damaging gusts into the evening.
After sunset, continued airmass overturning by thunderstorms and
nocturnal cooling should temper the severe threat to a greater
degree.
