The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 677
continues.
SUMMARY…Severe threat is gradually waning across the Middle
Atlantic this evening.
DISCUSSION…Widespread convection continues across much of the
northern Middle Atlantic this evening, especially the eastern half
of PA. Over the last hour or so, substantial convective overturning
has occurred leading to notably weaker instability. MLCAPE values
are now primarily less than 1000 J/kg as rain-cooled surface
temperatures have lowered into the upper 60s/70s. Gradually
weakening thunderstorm clusters will, however, continue for the next
several hours, but overall intensities are such that only isolated
gusty winds are the primary risk for the next few hours.
