Mesoscale Discussion 2235
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected…North TX

Concerning…Severe Thunderstorm Watch 704…705…706…

Valid 050124Z – 050300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 704, 705,
706 continues.

SUMMARY…Threat for strong gusts and large hail continues across
North Texas.

DISCUSSION…Composite outflow/cold front continues to push
southward across north TX, with numerous supercells ongoing in the
vicinity of this frontal zone. Several of these supercells appear to
be undergoing a transition to more linear bowing segments, in
particular the storm just northeast of the Metroplex entering Wise
and Parker counties. This storm is currently located north of the
composite boundary, but looks to begin interacting with the boundary
shortly. This could augment already strong wind fields, resulting in
strong, damaging gusts downstream. Large hail has also been reported
with this storm, with some potential for damaging wind-driven hail.
An impressive updraft capable of large hail also exists with storm
entering Colin County, and its proximity to the boundary suggests
the threat for strong gusts exists as well.
