The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
The Oklahoma Panhandle
The Texas Panhandle and South Plains
* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 335 PM
until 1000 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include…
Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
to 75 mph possible
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY…High-based thunderstorms are forming across the South
Plains and additional storms will form and/or move into the
northwest Texas and western Oklahoma Panhandles in the next couple
of hours. Severe outflow winds up to 75 mph with be a threat as the
high-based storms grow upscale into loose clusters and spread
eastward through late evening. Any sustained cells/supercells will
have the potential to produce large hail up to 2 inches in diameter.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 85
statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles north of Guymon
OK to 20 miles southeast of Lubbock TX. For a complete depiction of

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
REMEMBER…A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
