The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Extreme east central Colorado
Northwest Kansas
Extreme southwest Nebraska

* Effective this Saturday afternoon from 545 PM until Midnight
CDT.

* Primary threats include…
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY…A cluster of storms will develop southward from Nebraska
into northwest Kansas this evening, and more isolated supercells
will be possible farther south along a surface trough near the
Kansas/Colorado border. Large hail of 1-2 inches in diameter and
severe outflow gusts of 60-70 mph will be the main threats into
early tonight.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles west northwest
of Mccook NE to 45 miles south southeast of Goodland KS. For a

REMEMBER…A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
