A progressive shortwave trough and a 100+ kt mid-level speed max will progress eastward and inland across Washington/British Columbia by later this afternoon and evening. A few lightning flashes could occur for coastal areas of the Pacific Northwest relatively early today via weak elevated buoyancy within the warm conveyor preceding the shortwave trough/cold front.
