The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Southwest Oklahoma
Western and Central Texas
* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 1205 PM until
700 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80
mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms will increase in coverage and
intensity through the afternoon. Isolated supercells storms will be
capable of producing large to very large hail. With time, linear
segments will evolve toward late afternoon/early evening with an
accompanying risk for isolated severe/damaging gusts. While large
hail and strong wind gusts are expected to be the main hazards with
severe storms through the afternoon, a tornado or two also may occur
with any intense supercells that could develop, mainly from the
Permian Basin into west-central Texas.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 110
statute miles north and south of a line from 75 miles south
southeast of Altus OK to 50 miles west southwest of Fort Stockton

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

2.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 70 knots. A
