URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 621...CORRECTED NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1235 PM MST Fri Sep 26 2025 CORRECTED FOR TIMEZONE The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Central and Southern Arizona * Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 1235 PM until 700 PM MST. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are already ongoing across central and southern AZ, with gradually increasing coverage and intensity expected over the next few hours. The moderately buoyant and sheared environment in a place is expected to support rotating updrafts capable of large hail. High cloud bases and precipitation loading will support damaging gusts as well. A low-probability risk of a brief tornado also exist, mainly over central AZ where southeasterly surface winds are present. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles east and west of a line from 65 miles north northeast of Phoenix AZ to 40 miles east southeast of Tucson AZ.
